61st Annual Grammy Awards
After coming from New York last year, this years 61st Annual Grammy Awards was back in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.
Although Alicia Keys has won 15 Grammy Awards throughout her career; this was be her first time hosting the show. And, Alicia Keys says this years message is “about the power of music”. Accordingly, Women have made their presence known in music this year in some of the top categories.
The show began with Alicia inviting several powerful Women on stage to speak of the universal power of music. And, no one better than Michelle Obama to speak of power to get the night started.
Similarly to other years, there is always some type of controversy going on. Due to Ariana Grande having disagreements with the show producers on songs she can perform; she has chosen that she won’t perform or attend the award ceremony.
With performances planned by so many artists as well as a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin; this show is sure to have everyone ready to sing and tap their feet.
In addition, with Kendrick Lamar having eight nominees; will this be his year to receive the top award for Album of the Year? Additionally, Drake is up for seven awards. And, Bradley Cooper received four nominations with Lady Gaga from a Star is Born for their song, Shallow. To read more, check out my A Star is Born Movie Review post.
61st Annual Grammy Awards Red Carpet
In celebration of so many Women nominees, this years red carpet featured many actors and musicians bringing their A-game.
Are you more interested in what everyone is wearing? Of course, every year means musicians spare no expense. And, indeed this year this came across.
Camila Cabello looked stunning in a pink glittery dress.
Not only did Lady Gaga look gorgeous in her silver fitted dress, but she also won several Grammy Awards.

In the same fashion, Cardi B always makes a statement. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of this dress as it reminded me of a water fountain. But, definitely a conversation piece.
In my opinion, not everyone made great fashion choices. Consequently, Meghan Trainor is still in the Newlywed phase as she was dressed in white; however I didn’t think this style did her justice.
Certainly, this bright-colored coat and dress brought color to another level. Hit or miss?
