Celebrate Earth Day April 22nd! In the first place, Earth Day is important as it is a way to protect our planet. In view of today, plant a tree, ride a bicycle or walk to work today.
Celebrate Earth Day
Although we have all heard of Earth Day, many don’t realize the importance of this day. In April 22, 1970, approximately twenty millions American citizens took up an initiative to help preserve a better, cleaner and more sustainable World in the future.
Because of that date, an entire program came together on Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. Since then, Earth Day is celebrated all around the World. Additionally, many communities celebrate Earth Day the entire month.
Environment
In the same way, it is important to understand the impact of our actions. When you look around, think about the air, trees and water. Hence, it is important to educate everyone for a better life for the future. By contributing, you are taking steps to repair environmental issues.
Since Earth Day’s inception, people have become more aware of the environment. For example, since 1970, we now have:
- Energy efficient light bulbs
- Recycling – Moreover, there has been a lot done to make recycled clothing, goods and other items.
- Energy efficient appliances
- Back in 1975, it became mandatory for all automobiles to have catalytic converters. Because of this, we now have electric and hybrid cars.
Participate in Earth Day
So, are you ready to make our planet more Earth-friendly? Not only are the following some ideas to do today, but to practice doing on a regular occurrence.
- Replace old light bulbs with new energy-saving fluorescents.
- Walk or bike to work or school.
- Transport a reusable water bottle. Many of us throw away our plastic water bottles all day long, myself included.
- Plant a tree. When I recently had a tree removed from the street, I donated it to the city. By saving a tree, you are helping lessen pollution and provide shade.
- Also, unplug any electronics you’re not using. How many of us leave our laptops or appliances plugged in all day long?
- In addition, use eco-friendly products.
- If you’re redecorating, consider installing a solar panel on your rooftop.
- Power down when you’re not using your computer.
- When leaving a room, shut off the electricity.
