Chicago Cubs end 108 year drought by winning the World Series Wednesday, November 2nd against the Cleveland Indians.  Theo Epstein has done it again. When Theo was with the Boston Red Sox he ended their World Series Curse in 2004 and now he ended the Chicago Cubs curse.  Moreover, he has ended the two longest droughts in Major League Baseball, not once but twice.  First, the Boston Red Sox with an 86 year drought and now the Chicago Cubs end 108 year drought.

Chicago Cubs End 108 Year World Series Drought

So for me, Chicago Cubs winning the World Series was a natural progression.  As a Baseball fan, I knew the Cubs were going to win this year.  When the World Series started I wrote a post predicting the Cubs to win in 7.  Visit my post on World Series Curse Cubs v Indians post.

Furthermore, the Cubs were built on a lot of young talent.  Theo and Jed Hoyer put together a good team of offense, defense and pitching.    Of course, the Chicago Cubs win is a nice win for the entire sport of baseball. In addition, the acquisition of Joe Maddon was a brilliant move.  In reality, Theo Epstein and Joe Maddon are baseball magic.

Cleveland Indians

While I watched the entire series, I had some doubts when the Indians were up 3-1.  Were the Cubs going to have to wait another year?  Terry Francona’s management of the Cleveland Indians was top notch.   Since there were many player injuries, Francona did a remarkable job getting the team to Game 7 in the World Series.

It is no doubt that Francona led his team to an exciting match-up on baseballs biggest stage.  Terry’s brilliant style came into play throughout the playoffs.  He was able to get the most out of his pitching staff.  The Indians have a lot of talent.

Though the Indians were on the opposite end, Francona had high praise for his team and the Cubs.  Of course, he told his Club to hold their head up high.

Conclusion

Both sides played really smart baseball.  One team had to win.  To point out, both the Cubs and Indians are poised to be contenders for a long time.  With this in mind, I think everyone can expect great things in the World of Baseball.

So now that the baseball season has officially come to an end, I can focus on the Boston Red Sox.  Of course, I’m expecting great things going forward for this team.  In conclusion, I would have loved to see a Red Sox v Chicago Cubs match up.  Maybe next year.
