My Husband and I entered the signature blue and yellow large tents to see Cirque du Soleil Kurios recently. The show was taking place at Suffolk Downs in Revere.
As we entered the tent, we saw the stage set up with a few props and heard sound effects.
Actors and performers rushed around the stage and through out the audience on a train as the show begins. Because my Husband and I have seen multiple Cirque du Soleil shows, we understand the shows concept. Furthermore, we have seen many performances in Las Vegas, Florida and several shows in the greater Boston area. While similar to the prior Cirque shows I saw, this show has performers, acrobats, costumes, and theatrics.
Kurios is taking place in the mid 19th century amongst an Industrial Revolution. The show references Victorian Train Stations in a scientific style. Many forms of transportation are shown throughout the performance including:
- Planes
- Trains
- Hot Air Balloons
- Bicycles
The Inventor tries to defy the laws of dimension, space and time. After seeing the show, I read it was best to buy a program. Also the program detailed people and things that spilled from the Kurios cabinet. Since I didn’t purchase the program, I had a tough time trying to make sense of the performance.
Hence, the audience tries to follow the performers into the world of curiosity. Strange characters enter the stage throughout the performance.
- A Woman with a spiraling hoop skirt.
- A Man with a big metal stomach that a tiny lady lives in.
- A Man with pants on that fold into an accordion.
Cirque du Soleil Kurios
In addition, Kurios had similarities as prior Cirque shoes with performers as:
- Flying acrobats.
- Aerialist on a bicycle.
- Aerialist’s descending from the ceiling.
- Rope climbers.
- Comedians.
- Acrobatics flying high throughout the performance.
Furthermore, throughout the show, the Scientist has things turning invisible and upside down.
Review
In conclusion, I found Cirque du Soleil Kurios disappointing and wouldn’t recommend seeing this performance. Also, I found the show fell flat and was hard to follow. As my Husband and I exited the show, I told him I wouldn’t go to any more local Cirque du Soleil shows.
Have you seen Cirque du Soleil Kurios Cabinet of Curiosities? Did you like it? Dislike?

Yes, it is. When design, technology combine elements with technological features, it is amazing what can transpire.
