Luzia is one of the latest shows in the Cirque Du Soleil performances that my Hubby and I had a chance to see, this past weekend. Since I have seen most of the shows in the last 15 years; this latest show is all about the Mexican culture.
Cirque Du Soleil
In the first place, Cirque Du Soleil began in 1984 in Quebec. Since that time, it has evolved into a range of shows that take you to different places and cultures. The first show I saw was Mystere in Las Vegas.
Since Mystere, I have seen O, KA, La Reve and Love in Las Vegas. After that, I had the opportunity to see several shows in the Boston area. Prior to this weekend, I saw Kurios. Be sure to check out my Cirque Du Soleil Kurios post to read more about that show.
Cirque Du Soleil Luzia
Because I was disappointed with several of the Cirque Du Soleil Boston shows; I was on the fence with seeing a local show again. Due to “O” being one of my favorite shows of all times; I was intrigued to see this show because water was part of this show’s theme.
In my opinion, the first portion of the show was the same aesthetic as many of their prior shows. Similarly to their other shows, this performance included:
- Acrobatics throughout the performance
- Flying Acrobats
- Also, an Aerialist descending from the ceiling
Cirque Du Soleil Luzia Review
As I mentioned above, the first half of the show fell flat for me. After the intermission, the second half of the show opened with more energy and much better performances. No doubt, the performance from the Contortionist was one of the high lights of the show. In fact, I was amazed at how flexible his body worked. Hence, this performance is by Alexey Goloborodko who moves his body into some of the most unusual positions, I have ever seen from any of the other Cirque shows.
Another highlight of the show for me wasn’t an actual performance, but the waterfall portion of the show.
Have you seen Luzia yet?
As always, I welcome your comments.
