As the holidays approach, time to eat drink be merry. Today’s post is ways to gather friends and family for some holiday cheer. However, if you’re attending a function with people you may not usually socialize with; I’ll be providing you tips on how to get through this as well.
Eat, Drink, and Socialize
In the first place, if you’re attending an event and don’t know anyone or there are people you don’t see often, try to engage them in a short conversation. When encountering someone you would prefer not to see, smile and be polite. If you’re meeting someone for the first time, try to limit your conversation to approximately 5 minutes. However, if you strike a common interest with someone, you can always continue to engage in conversation throughout the night.
Above all, it is important to limit eating and drinking to a minimum. Although food and alcohol will be readily available, there are certain party etiquette rules. For instance, don’t double dip. Moreover, don’t walk around with a full plate or too much food in your hand.
Since many holiday work events or parties have open bar; limit your alcohol consumption to a maximum of two drinks. Visit my post on National Impaired Driving Prevention Month to learn about the safety of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you see someone has had too much to drink; do not allow them to drive.
