Baseball’s Opening Day begins with optimism, opportunity, and a clean slate. Of course, every team starts with the same record. Anything can happen as every season brings hope.
Opening Day is exciting. It is the American past time. In baseball, the rules are clear as there is never a dispute on who won or lost. Teams and fans walk away from the game without any conflict. However, the only conflict is the opponent you’re facing on game day. Opening Day 2016 will begin Sunday, April 3rd, and Monday, April 4th.
Baseball is back
Of course every year I look forward to the start of baseball season. Moreover, I recently started paying attention to Spring Training and visit my Boston Red Sox Home Page daily. I have been following baseball since the age of 6 and my passion for the game has never wavered.
I haven’t been able to gauge my prediction on this year’s Boston Red Sox Team. Reading and catching a little bit of spring training games has me concerned about pitching, defense, and the corner infield position. Please visit my Spring Training Blog for more on the Red Sox. Nonetheless, Major League Baseball’s Opening Day is right around the corner. A festive atmosphere and the United States President traditionally throws out the first pitch at one of the day’s games. With baseball season and spring season underway it is a time of hope for fans. No opening day series looks more appealing than the New York Mets on the road against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals and Mets are both considered teams to make a deep playoff run in October.
Baseball fans in Boston and Cleveland are looking forward to the start of the season on April 4th. Due to both the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians were big disappointments in 2015, both teams are hopeful for a strong start for the 2016 Season. Some other exciting baseball matchups are the Atlanta Braves against the Washington Nationals. The Nationals were considered favorites in 2015 and fell apart and they are hoping to rebound in 2016. If you’re an avid baseball fan, some other interesting games to see are Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.
Hit a Home Run Opening Day
Everyone who follows baseball will be following their favorite teams and players. Will anyone hit a home run at their first at bat? Perhaps hit a home run during the game? I remember several years back Dustin Pedroia’s first at bat was a home run. Will any of the Boston Red Sox players hit a home run? It is always fun to see the Pitchers who get the nod for the first game and to see if any of the hitters are able to get to them and hit a home run.
Opening Day 2016 should be an exciting day for baseball fans as we settle in for 162 games. What teams will start the season strong? Any exciting players to watch during baseball season 2016? Of course, I’m hopeful that my Red Sox team will make its way out of the cellar and be a better team this year.
