Joy was released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2015.
Joy
The movie is loosely about Joy Mangano. She is a self-made millionaire who creates her own Business Empire. Also, the movie has an all-star cast with the Main Character “Joy” by Jennifer Lawrence. Since this movie is about how Joy Mangano overcame personal and professional obstacles to rise to the top. Additionally, it was amazing to me how quickly this movie was made. The movie was during the snowstorm accumulation last year. It was in Boston and surrounding cities and towns. I was able to see this movie shortly after the release..
Joy is a woman who was tending to a household that includes two children, her Mother, Ex-Husband, and her disapproving Father. One day she drops a glass of wine and while kneeling down to clean the mess came up with an idea. She creates a super absorbent mop hence miracle mop. Through hard work and perseverance, she was able to put her Company on the map. Throughout the movie Joy battled with condescending personalities and various members of her dysfunctional family. By believing in her dream she didn’t give up. During a series of events that eventually led to her pitching the mop on QVC Home Shopping Channel began her initiation into building her empire.
My Thoughts About Joy
What I did like most about the movie was the message of never “Giving up” What I didn’t like about the movie were too many childhood flashbacks and fantasy soap opera. There were parts of the movie I found very un-balanced. I would have liked to see more truth in the portrayal of Joy.
There are many moments in this movie that deeply resonated with me. Though heartbreak hit, she never had a pity party for one. She believed in herself, her invention, and her dream. In conclusion, the message is to never stop believing in yourself.
