I recently bought tickets to attend a July Red Sox Game with my Husband over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. May 31st, the Sox had a 3 1/2 game lead in the American League East. June was a losing record for the Red Sox. Their record for the month was 10 and 16.
The team lost its way in pitching and had a lot of injuries with some of their key players. Many of the players lowered their on base percentage by almost 100 points. Chris Young was the only player performing well.
I was looking forward to attending my first game of the 2016 year. I purchased excellent seats for the game, but unfortunately, my husband and I chose not to stay for the entire game. Clay Buchholz gave up six runs by the 5th inning. The team was down 7-0 when my husband and I decided to leave.
July Red Sox Game
I was happy we left the game and headed home. By the time we arrived home, the game was still going on. The final score was 21-2. It was the first time since 2009 in Fenway Park that the team gave up more than 20 runs. The Red Sox had one of the most runs scored against them this season. Every reliever brought into the game couldn’t stop the bleeding. Both Robbie Ross Jr. and Pat Light each gave up six runs. The game was poorly played in pitching, offense, and defense.
The game was an embarrassing loss for the team. I was happy to see the game behind us. The final game against the Los Angeles Angels was a win with the score being 10-5. We won the series taking two out of three.
The loss on Saturday is still fresh in my mind. The team has to play better overall. The pitching has been this team Achilles Heel.
July has just begun and hope July Red Sox games are better than June for the team. I’m hoping for a winning record for the month of July.
