No doubt, June is a month dedicated to celebrate the LGBT community. First and foremost, there are LGBTQ Pride events happening throughout the world. Of course, this month is often used as a platform to celebrate diversity. Indeed, the world has become a better place in acceptance.
LGBT Pride Celebration Month
Due to the June 28, 1969 Stonewall riots; June began as the month to strive towards tolerance and diversity in the workplace and community. Hence, Gay and Lesbian Groups celebrate this month with:
- Marathons – The New York Road Runners and Front Runners New York have a 5 mile run throughout Central Park.
- Memorials – For people who died from HIV and Aids.
- Parades – In addition, many states and cities are hosting parades.
- Parties – There will be many parties celebrating acceptance and choices.
- Picnics – Of course, you will find a lot of outdoor colorful picnics happening in various neighborhoods throughout the country.
Not only will there be celebrations throughout the month, but this is also a month to make sure your business or employer is ensuring diversity in the workplace.
LGBT – Rainbow Colors
In the same fashion, rainbow colors are often associated as a sign of identity and solidarity. Not only are these colors widely recognized, but they have also replaced other LGBT symbols.
