Donation Facts
To donate blood, there are certain requirements. You must be at least 17 years old and weigh more than 110 pounds. Also, you can donate blood every 56 days.
In addition, platelets can be donated every 7 days or maximum of 24 times annually. Furthermore, platelets must be transfused within 5 days of donation. It is important for hospitals to have a steady supply of platelets.
