What is “I Forgot Day”? Well, if you don’t know, don’t fret. First and foremost, today is a day about not remembering. So, today is a good excuse to let someone know something slipped your mind.
National I Forgot Day
In the first place, this holiday was started by Gaye Anderson. Because she was having a hard time remembering things, she started a fun day to relax and naturally forget things. Since Gaye is known to be forgetful, she cannot remember the year she started this faux holiday.
Alzheimer’s Disease
And, some may have medical conditions which impact their memory, such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Consequently, this disease is a cause for concern. At the same time, the disease is known to worsen over the course of years.
Since my Dad has dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, I have seen his memory loss interfere with his day-to-day life.
“I Forgot Day”
Indeed, today is a day most don’t know about or will easily forget. But, all joking aside, how many of us forget things? For those of you who forget things on a regular basis, you may want to set yourself a reminder for important dates to remember such as:
- Anniversary
- Appointments
- Birthdays
- Event
- Graduation
- Meeting
- Phone calls
If you’re one of these people who naturally forget, you may want to use today as a day to change things. So, celebrate today by setting yourself up with a reminder on your calendar or phone.
And, if you’re like me, there are certain things you would prefer not to remember. No doubt, today is a good day to let things that have negatively impacted you; forget about them all together.
Celebrate I Forgot Day
If you actually forgot an appointment, call to explain what happened. Also, if you forgot to acknowledge an anniversary or birthday, you can always send a belated card. Or, perhaps send a funny card expressing your forgetfulness.
Personally, I hope you don’t forget anything important today or any other day.
As always, I welcome your comments.
