In the first place, June is National Safety Month. Today’s post is about tips to keep you safe at home, work and when outside.

National Safety Month

This month is designated by the National Safety Council to educate people about preventable injuries and deaths. Safety is a serious matter that requires attention and focus all the time. By staying on top of what is going on around you, you are showing a concern for yourself and other people.

Although, June is designated as the month to promote safety, you should think about safety all year. Indeed, safety is a serious subject that businesses and people need to be aware of.

Week 1 – Stand Up to Falls

Since many people fall, this is an important area to focus on. In the same way, it is important to recognize that many older people need better care at home and in residential facilities. By standing up to falls, we are helping keep older people on their feet and being more aware of their surroundings.

Week 2 – Recharge to be in Charge

Because fatigue comes from not concentrating, anxiety, depression, and a lack of sleep, it is important to take this seriously. When an individual has a medical condition, we understand fatigue is part of the condition.

However, when someone has fatigue on a regular basis, it may be a symptom of a serious physical or mental health issue. Furthermore, it is important to understand the different between someone being exhausted and fatigued. With this in mind, it is important to notice any difference in yours or someone’s lack of concentration, focus and stamina.

Week 3 – Prepare for Active Shooters

Because we live in a world with many gun related threats and situations, it is important to understand what to do. In the first place, you want to try to run and of course, hide. Moreover, it is important to create as much distance as possible from a live shooter.

If you think there is the potential of a dangerous situation, you should notify the authorities as soon as possible. By being aware of the situation, it can help lead to less fatalities.

Remember, you cannot judge a book by its cover. Pay attention to people and your surroundings at all times.

Week 4 – Don’t Just Sit There

Since many of us are creatures of habit, it is important to break out of this routine. When you see something, that doesn’t feel right, react immediately.

If you find yourself in a situation with chaos, try to help out. Be proactive.
