Play Ball! Since baseball is my favorite sport; I’m happy to report the season will begin next month. Finally! Since all professional teams have been on pause since March; it is nice to see sports returning.

Baseball is Back

I have been a baseball fan since I was 6 years old; and, I’m already counting the days until opening day. To read more about my love of my favorite team; be sure to check out my Red Sox Fan post.

Hence, this year, professional sports has been on pause since March 2020. To learn more; be sure to visit my Coronavirus Sports Cancellation post.

Because the players and owners have been in disagreement on how to resume; it was nice to see everyone come to an agreement for a 60 game season.

Although the season is short; it will still provide plenty of excitement for baseball fans.

So, within the next week or so, the MLB is back on. At the same time, all players will have a short Spring Training – Part 2 as well as the start date of a regular-season.

Accordingly, opening day will be either July 23rd or July 24th. Of course, I already have the days highlighted in my day planner.

When the regular season opens, 40 games will be played within the division. Moreover, 20 games will be played against a certain geographical area. For example, the Boston Red Sox would play teams in the National League East.

Indeed, when the games begin; there are a lot of new rules.

Moreover, the National League will now have a designated hitter.

If a game goes into extra innings, a runner will be placed on second base to speed up the time of the game.

However, once the post-season begins; there will be no rules in regards to extra innings

In summary, there are still pandemic guidelines being figured out.

So, are you ready to play ball?

As always, I welcome your comments on the MLB’s return?
