To re-gift or not. So, it happens every year. Since many of us receive a gift that we cannot use or want, we try to return it back to the store. If you don’t know what store the gift came from, you may try to re-gift it.

Due to someone going out of their way to purchase a gift, what can you do if you really dislike the gift. If you don’t want to hurt someone’s feeling, the best thing to do is thank the gift giver.

Re-gift and re-giving became popular by an episode on Seinfeld. This episode was shown January 19, 1995 and was known as The Label Maker. Because of that episode, the term became more popular.

National Re-Gifting Day is a holiday the Thursday before Christmas in offices. As of October 2005, Colorado’s Governor declared National Re-Gifting Day an official proclamation. In addition, it is a made-up holiday in the United States.

Re-Gift Etiquette

When you receive a gift, say thank you. Whether you like the gift or not, appreciate the thought and time of the person who bought you a gift. What is the best way to deal with a gift or item that you don’t want or need? If you are not going to use the gift and cannot return it, the following etiquette applies.

Conclusion

Of course we have all exchanged gifts with a friend and received something we didn’t like. Also, you can stop exchanging gifts going forward with this individual. In addition, suggest doing an activity that you will both enjoy versus exchanging presents.

Since there are many things to do going forward that don’t require a physical gift, there won’t be any need to re-gift.
