Repeat performance is making the rounds again in many revivals of Fashion brands, Restaurants, Hotels, and Movies. What was considered dated is suddenly new again and very current? I consider them sleeping beauties that have woken from a long sleep fest.
In New York, many old hotels are being revived. Furthermore, business is booming at the Plaza, Carlyle, and The Mark.
Food, Movies, Music, TV
On Food Network, Ty Pennington and Amanda Freitag are helping revive classic American Diners throughout the Country on American Diner Revival. Many Restaurants are constantly reviving their menus, bringing in new Chef’s and renovating their space. I received an email a few days ago about Aquitaine, a restaurant located in the South End in Boston. The Owner’s letter stated he hoped to make the restaurant exciting with new changes.
Movies, Music and TV Shows are reinvented over and over again. We often see a repeat performance of a popular song that has been remade with some new lyrics or a musical instrumental arrangement addition. A few that come to mind are the Christmas Classic – Miracle on 34th Street, Footloose, Grease, A Star is Born, Batman, Beauty and the Beast to many others currently in the works. I always enjoy seeing a repeat performance of a classic movie re-made.
Books and recipes are often rewritten and are updated so regularly that we don’t realize they are a repeat performance of something well known that we are excited to read or try. We’ve seen that done recently with the popular play, Annie that starred Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. The book below is a fun murder story to read.

Re-launching a brand is telling a story. Diane von Furstenberg did a great job of this and has remained current season after season.
We’ve recently seen a resurgence of Ugg. People I know who were never huge fans of the brand are now buying Ugg boots. Recently at a diner, I frequent for breakfast, the owner told me she received a pair of Ugg Boots from her Mother as a gift. Personally I’ve lived in my Ugg boots since they hit the scene many years ago. Of course, I own several pairs and one of my favorites was a Designer collaboration Jimmy Choo did with Ugg that I snatched up at Nordstrom. I receive compliments all the time when I have them on. In addition, I own a great short Pink Shearling Ugg Jacket and have several pairs of Ugg sweatpants and hoodies.
In addition, there have been so many spins on various fashions. Also many styles so everything old is eventually. The span is usually about 20 years. Of course, I’m hopeful the original Hush Puppies will return. Saddle Shoes – I own a pair with a heel that I love – I always receive compliments when I have them on. Everyone is always asking where I bought them. For the upcoming Spring and Summer season, I love the denim short boots featured below by Ugg.
We all like a repeat performance of our favorites no matter what it is.
