Recently I read the Christmas novel, Twelve days of Christmas. Since the holiday season began, I have been reading light fiction holiday books. If you’re a fan of Hallmark’s countdown to Christmas movies, than you will enjoy this book.

Twelve Days of Christmas

Twelve days of Christmas is a delightful novel with romance and cheer. Julia Paddon is a friendly person and usually likes everyone. In contrast, Julia’s neighbor, Cain Maddox is the opposite. He is a challenge. No matter how nice Julia is to Cain, he rejects her at every turn.

When Julia catches Cain stealing her newspaper, that is the last straw. Julia shares her frustration with her best friend who suggests killing Cain with kindness. Also, Julia is competing for a position in her field. But in order to get the job, Julia must start a blog for the month of December that will attract a lot of followers.

So the blog begins. She writes about killing her grumpy neighbor with kindness for the next twelve days. But as Julia learns, sometimes things aren’t what they appear. Cain was raised by his grandparents. Furthermore, Cain has built up walls to protect himself from love and hurt.

So when Julia continues to be friendly, Cain’s walls begin to come down.  As the blog becomes more popular, Julia and Cain’s relationship changes. Although the relationship and the blogs popularity grows, Cain finds out about the blog.  Will Cain get over his trust issues? Does Julia land her dream position? Can Cain and Julia’s relationship get over this hurdle?

To point out, Twelve days of Christmas is an enjoyable feel good book. Although the characters were undeveloped and the writing old fashioned, I think the book’s message is important. To summarize, being kind is good “Karma”.
