Supporting Cancer research is something I feel strongly about.  We have all known someone who has cancer in our life. So, each and every one of us has been impacted by cancer.

My mother was diagnosed with colon rectal cancer when I was in my thirties.  My Mother never had any health issues.  When she went in for a routine doctor’s appointment, she was referred to a Gastroenterologist.

Unfortunately, many individuals don’t get routine colonoscopies when they turn 50.  For my Mother, it was too late.  She suffered through several surgeries and medical issues for two and a half years.  Personally, I have had several biopsies.    Seeing a loved one suffer I became more interested in what causes cancer and learning more about this disease. Also, I was part of the Cancer Study Committee in Marblehead.  Moreover, it was run by a Chief Oncologist who was also my Mother’s Doctor.  Learning more about this disease and supporting cancer research has always been important to me.

Supporting Cancer Research

Recently I received an email from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Jimmy Fund to create a Giving Page.  I hope to contribute and support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  Dana Farber Cancer Institute is in Boston, Massachusetts.  Their goal is to provide both adult and pediatric cancer patient care while developing new treatments, cures, and prevention of other diseases.  The Cancer Institute is unique in its 50/50 approach.  Their split approach allows them to provide state of the art treatment to patients and to continue making strides in finding a cure.  Dana Farber is one of the top Cancer Hospitals in New England.  It is in the top 4 hospitals for both adults and pediatric treatment in the United States by US World News.

My hope in setting up a Giving Page is to help to support cancer research.  A gift to Dana Farber directly supports both patient care and cancer research.  For every dollar raised, only $.010 goes to administrative costs.  The money you donate goes to providing hope for many patients and their loved ones.

In conclusion, please consider donating to this worthwhile cause by supporting cancer research.   I hope you share some of your stories with me on Cancer.  The inspiration that Dana Farber provides goes a long way to giving us hope to help eradicate cancer.
